The year was 2019. Jake accepted a job at Indeed in Stamford, CT and began working out of the same office as Susana. Jake 's team had a meeting on an atypical floor in the office, and immediately afterwards, held the door for Susana and did a double take. (Would've done a triple take if he'd already known 3 was her favorite number).

He was already halfway head over heels. After weeks of relentless persistence, Susana agreed to have lunch with Jake at ZAZA, right down the street from the office. Jake was way too excited and nervous to eat much, but paid close attention as Susana asked the server not once, not twice but three times for more lemons & limes for her salad.

Unfortunately, that lunch was a date to Jake, but Susana insisted it was a platonic meal between two colleagues.

Persistent once again, Jake went back to his mom's house in New Fairfield and trimmed her lime tree, transplanted it into a new pot and dropped it off at Susana's front door. He noticed her affinity for citrus fruits and thought maybe she could grow her own.

Much faster than the lime tree grew, Jake and Susana's relationship grew from professional to helplessly in love.

Susana came into Jake's life at serendipitous timing - shortly before his parents, Kate and Howard passed away. The highlight of many of Kate's final weeks was the visit from Susana and Luna, the puppy they snuck into the hospital in a tote bag.

The hardships they endured early on and the loss Susana supported Jake through were the roots that shortly thereafter allowed their family to grow.

Hunter seemed to be a reincarnation of Jake's parents, and Susana's parents were overwhelmed with happiness. The rest, dear friends is history. It's been a long time coming but we're so excited to finally make it official with all of you, our favorite people on Earth.
